Jatila Sayadaw comes up when I think about monks living ordinary days inside a tradition that never really sleeps. It’s 2:19 a.m. and I can’t tell if I’m tired or just bored in a specific way. It is that specific exhaustion where the physical form is leaden, yet the consciousness continues to probe and question. There’s a faint smell of soa
